The second show is now on air! We listened to the start before the meeting started and we all thought it sounded great! Ryan was introducing one of the songs when we switched on.
As we said last month Luc and Chris went to the Learning Disability Today Conference with Paul.
This is what they had to say about it –
On 25th November, Luc and Chris from Shut Up and Listen! visited the Learning Disability Today conference in Islington.
They ran a media area alongside the Oska Bright Film Festival. Shut Up and Listen! had an area where people could watch the radio show being recorded. The first interview was with the cast and filmmakers of web television show, ‘The Specials’. Chris and Luc talked to 5 Brighton housemates about how the show came
about and their favourite episode. The cast recorded a jingle for the radio show.

Next up, Chris and Luc recorded an interview with punk rock band, Heavy Load. They started by interviewing Paul and lead singer, Simon until drummer, Michael, returned from the bar. Heavy Load talked about their favourite bands, their best and worst gigs, and how they get ideas for their songs about Bruce Forsyth and George Michael. Luc’s favourite bit was asking Heavy Load about George Micheal. Chris did a great job at blagging a free DVD from Heavy Load! After the interview, Luc and Chris had their photographs taken at the Heavy Load merchandise stand. Chris spent all of his money on T-shirts and Cds.

After lunch and a quick snooze, Luc and Chris interviewed Lizzy and Kelly from Heart ‘n’ Soul. We asked about the history of the organisation and the Beautiful Octopus Club, and about Lizzie Emeh’s new album and tour, coming to the Blue Camel Club in March 2010. We bought a copy of Lizzie Emeh’s new CD, ‘Loud and Proud’, to play on the next radio show.
We also interviewed Tracey McCillen, National Director of UK Sports Association for People with Learning Disability (UKSA). We talked to Tracey about the recent change in the ban on people with a learning disability taking part in the Paralympic Games. Tracey asked about what sports Luc and Chris were good at. Chris talked about his cycling and Luc told her about how he wanted to play football with David Beckham.
We also did interviews with the Oska Bright film festival committee which will be a feature on the next show!
We left at 7am to get the train up to London and got back about 12 hours later. All the interviews will be part of a 15 minute radio show that will go up on our website soon. They will also feature in next year’s radio shows.

We got the badges made and we think the badges turned out really well and we’re going to hand them out at the next blue camel club.

In other news we’re going to go down to the Wild Things album launch gig at the Komedia in Brighton and interview all the bands playing – The First Chancers, Zombie Crash and The Fuzzbomb Band.
